Details about Individual Days

Day 1

Studio Lighting

A photographer is supposed to understand, capture and modify light to create the results that they desire.

If you are in the genres of Commercial, products, lifestyle, fashion, etc. you need to eventually work with artificial light. More so if you also want to eventually get into genres like cinematic photography, videos, and so on.

Learning the basics right is the key to your eventual success.

You need to get down to breaking down each element of the most basic setup and not just learning on the surface.

We will provide a slow-paced, tactile experience, where you will learn every nitty-gritty of Handing, Installing, working with, Learning variations, and not just LOOK at someone else doing all the stuff. And Yes you will get to shoot awesome photos too, but to be honest the main objective is learning.

About the day

In this workshop, we will take you through some of the most IMPORTANT lighting principles, setups, and modifiers and also practically assemble, install, sync, and use them to give you a very practical learning experience and command of the basics of studio lighting.

After this day the participants would

  • Have a deep understanding of the basics of camera settings for Studio light operation
  • Be able to plan which studio light to use to create desired effect
  • Assemble and Create a basic to intermediate lighting setup using Soft Light Modifiers
  • Set Up a one to three lighting setup using Studio Strobes
  • Understand the difference between Studio Strobes, Speedlights, and Continuous lights
  • Replicate all the above setups with all 3 kinds of lights (Studio Strobes, Speedlights, and continuous lights)

Day 2 (first half)

Advanced Portrait & Fashion Lighting

On this day, We will create connected, emotional, face sculpting and environmental portraits. This will stretch your creativity a bit and also let you understand your inner style of working. We will mostly be using artificial lighting hence a good understanding of lighting is an advantage. We strongly recommend doing our studio lighting workshop that happens a week earlier to get the best out of this workshop.

After this day the participants would

  • Be able to confidently shoot single light portraits
  • Be able to confidently add more lights to create additional shadows and highlights in portraits
  • Be able to compare available light to manufactured lighting and at times mix them to create a mood
  • Create mood and emotions in their portraits
  • Use soft lighting for environmental portraits.

Day 2 (second half)

Fashion & Ecommerce Lighting

We will learn the Entire Workflow of a Fashion/Editorial Shoot

We will work on a collaborative high-end editorial concept, style the same, and then set up an extensive lighting setup to shoot the same with Agency standard Fashion Model(s).

After this day the participants would be able to

– Learn the basics of Fashion & Ecommerce lighting

– Work with Professional Model(s)

– Add Stunning editorial photos to your portfolio.

– Shoot an Editorial in an  Intimate / Intensive environment.

Other things that you may enjoy learning:

– Creating mood using posing and lighting.

– Background and lens selection

– Interaction with your model; how to inspire them to deliver their best performance

– Experience working with professional models

– Stretch your boundaries and break your habits of shooting at current level/angles

Why should you do this Bootcamp

You do great natural light photography but are afraid of touching studio equipment. Flash does not dance to your tunes and you really want to get over this.

You may have the camera, even the actual mental knowledge, or may have seen 100 tutorials online. But when it comes to actually performing or shooting, you find that “Something is Missing”.

That “Something is Missing”, is the fact that you do not have the “Muscle Memory” of being present in that atmosphere, feel that eclectic feeling that comes from being IN THAT MOMENT, with THOSE LIGHTS, in THAT STUDIO…

We may try to break those shackles with this workshop and give you a different experience.
